Mission

Art of Peace Society is an artist-led 501(c)(3) public charity focused on supporting independent creative artists in all fields whose work embodies the spirit of peace. Through grants and other means we aim to enable the continued creation of artistic works whose basic merit is peacefulness. We do not seek to promote the individual artists necessarily but rather the essence of what defines their work. We endeavor to showcase these works by facilitating events open to the public to raise awareness. Our goal is to promote that which restores the human soul and spirit. Whether it be a song, a sculpture, or even a floral arrangement, artworks serve as containers of energy and we look for those works which hold not simply the limited ideas of our minds, but that which conveys a sense of the infinite.
Art of this value does not readily appear when commercialism is a factor, and therefore what we see most commonly in society does not achieve the true potential of art to affect us beyond merely stirring the emotions, stimulating the mind, or moving the body. Art that can promote a state of peace within us is one of the most worthy human endeavors.

Artists

We actively seek to discover new artists and we also rely on word of mouth. Please reach out to us at [email protected] if you would like to recommend an artist for grant consideration that you believe resonates with our vision. We welcome artists of all disciplines (including music and sound, painting, photography, moving images, sculpture, design, poetry and writing, performance and dance, and others) to contact us about their existing works or new project ideas. We look forward to hearing from you!

Impact

We believe the cumulative effect of promoting peace speaks for itself and that changes often begin as ripples in a pond. Even a pebble can make an impact. We will keep you updated with details on the artists and projects we are supporting. Our grants are unconditional, although we ask the recipients to set aside a small portion for a charitable purpose of their own, thus creating a cycle of giving.

Contribute

Making a contribution can be meaningful to you in many ways, and we accept all forms of donations, including monetary and in-kind; time and expertise, equipment, access to performance/studio/gallery spaces, and other creative ways you can choose to be a part of our mission. Helping further the mission of peace through art is its own reward, however all donations are tax-deductible and you will receive our sincerest gratitude.
